By Sky and Sea
"Oh my fair lady why look you so lonely?
Come, leave your cares and come wander with me
Tell me why are you looking so downcast and mournful
Come walk a while where the sky meets the sea"
"Oh sir it's not easy, my story's a long one
The source of my sorrow's my husband to be
But I cannot speak ill of a lord of such status
For now let me rest where the sky meets the sea"
"Oh beautiful maid, tell me truly, I beg you
If he's used you ill he shall answer to me
Though I'm but a wanderer I'll not let him harm you
I'll challenge him here where the sky meets the sea"
"Oh bravest of men, you have misunderstood it
I grieve for no crime but the gloom I forsee
My lord loves me true but for him I feel nothing
I'd rather be here where the sky meets the sea"
"Oh wonderful lady, that crime is far greater
Your spirited heart should be happy and free
Don't marry one man when your loves for another
But stay here with me, where the sky meets the sea"
"Oh dashing young bard, though you're loving and handsome
This wedding was set by my parent's decree
I must marry my lord, though I'll never forget you
My heart always here, where the sky meets the sea"
And so she's left me and she's married her noble
Though the pain in her heart was so easy to see
I think of her still in her sad empty marriage
Write our names in the sand, where the sky meets the sea.
