Don't Let the Morning Come

Silver shines brightly
In the clear velvet night,
And the moon doesn't care
That the wind shakes the walls.
The owl is moaning hauntingly
So far far away -
Please don't let the morning come soon, I pray,
Don't let the morning come soon.

The wind shakes the walls
And rattles the latches,
And it speaks of the cold
Of a bitter spring night.
There will be mist in the garden
Come break of the day -
Just don't let the morning come soon, I pray,
Don't let the morning come soon.

A bitter spring night
Lit brightly by candles,
Keeping warm by the fire,
Holding comfort close by.
Trying hard to find the right words,
Just what can I say?
Oh don't let the morning come soon, I pray,
Don't let the morning come soon.

Hold comfort close by
While silver shines brightly,
And know that I love you
Though the moon doesn't care.
When the dawn comes you'll be going
So far far away -
So please don't let the morning come soon, I pray,
Please don't let the morning come soon.
