Faith
Written May 1106 – Dalziel swept me off my feet at the McAylwyn ceilidh and made me question everything. He gave me some of the answers too.

This is how it came to be
How the world turned on its head.
Where once I feared I might never be free
Now I look on that day with dread.
He held me close as he claimed to me
His faith in what he could see and feel.
Inside I screamed and begged to flee
Outside I prayed each word was real.

So inappropriate, so unanticipated,
So utterly bewildering but such a thrill.
Without a curse to make me choose
What makes me happy, what will I do?

I fear to lose what makes me love him
I question if I can do so unfree.
Would I tell myself it’s best for him
If I push him away and make him leave?
Curse or not, would it break my heart
To say goodbye to one who reached
From void to void? No longer apart
All my defences are already breached.

So inappropriate, so unanticipated,
So utterly bewildering but such a thrill.
Without a curse to make me choose
What makes me happy, what will I do?

But I remember those words he said that night
And when I see him, all of me smiles.
And in his arms there’s nothing that might
Destroy this Faith, whatever the trial.
This to remember the Faith I have found.
This to remember the Faith that found me.
This a reminder of Faith I won’t lose.
This a reminder of Faith not to lose me.

So inappropriate, so unanticipated,
So utterly bewildering but such a thrill.
Without a curse to make me choose
Have faith in me and I’ll come back to you.
