Give a Cheer
Written 1102
When the Immortal Patterns are all getting temperamental,
And you’re reading witty ley-notes from a hacked-off elemental,
When your Ancestors ignore each frantic plea you care to pray,
Then give a cheer, me darlin’, for it’s just a normal day.
When suddenly the carnival you’re watching goes all dark,
When some beastie has a crossbow never seems to miss it’s mark,
When hordes unliving fall on you and hit with all their might
Then give a cheer, me darlin’, for it’s just a normal night.
When some mad necromancer’s got the ritual circle smokin’
And the Mages’ Guild are weeping (‘cos they hate to see those broken)
When your mate’s been killed and then brought back as bodysnatching drow,
Then give a cheer, me darlin’, for it’s just a normal now.
When the Bards’ Guild got all bardic in it’s very many ways,
When the Healers were all channelled out and wand’ring in a daze
When the Guilds and Factions squabbled like two dozen cooped up hens
Then give a cheer, me darlin’, it was just a normal then.
When you really start to doubt that you should venture out of doors
When you’re sick of the destruction and can’t take it any more
When you’ve been in pointless battles where too many good friends died
Take my advice, me darlin’ and stay safe and warm inside!
