Prayer for the Dead
Written April 1107 – Some words for those we’ve lost – but keeping with the theme of Ki’s challenge.
May the hand of your ancestors welcome you home,
May your place by the fire be ready.
May peace at last find you wherever you roam,
May your troubles like smoke fade away.
May you know you are loved and know you are missed,
May you find our thoughts seek you out often.
May you still hear our tales with every twist,
May our silent prayers, your heart soften.
But may you know also this at your journey's end:
We still have our own roads to follow;
We still stand, we still fight, and our own we defend;
And we try to live life without sorrow.
May you be the strength that keeps us going.
May we know we are never alone.
