Sonnet
The author did not sign his work, but it is suspected that it was directed at his chosen Lady by Manannan MacLir

To surf and to sea and to swift flowing tide
Close your eyes softly and let your thoughts fly,
And let your mind wonder and linger and try
To number the times my lips your name has cried.

In rivers and mist, to hide it I’ve tried,
Yet all now must know the reason I sigh.
Your eyes, your smile; oh give me leave yet to try
To love you, to know you, and not be denied.

All that is in me that sings and laments,
All that is in me that loves and forgives,
All that I have to end this sweet torment –

All this, all this and more I would give
For one moment, just one blessed moment,
For you to choose if my hope dies or lives.
