The Fideal

She sings as she walks through the reeds,
Dark beauty is she; her eyes green and bright
And yet sad as she sings, “Won’t you help me…
Goodman, can’t you help me?”

She sways as she walks through the reeds,
Seductive is she, and her voice is light
As she calls out and sings, “Won’t you love me…
Goodman, can’t you love me?”

She smiles as he walks through the reeds,
Dark beauty is she, eyes wide with delight
As she gives him her kiss, “You won’t leave me…
Goodman, you won’t leave me.”

He sways as the wind moves the reeds,
The river runs over his unseeing eyes
As she calls out and sings, “Who will love me?
“Won’t anyone love me?”
