The Great Erdrejan Fayre, 1107
The most important thing to remember about this weekend was the weather. It was wet. Really wet. Also it was windy. Very windy.
Anyhow... this is the first year for the Great Erdrejan Fayre, a replacemenbt for the Heartland Games, since Orcus (dead) and Spttal (lost in the Void) are no longer around to host it. This year it was arranged by the Guilds for the factions to meet on the Island of Merinhault (next to the transport circle) which is an isle in the Spine of Tebron.
Friday Night
So, after arriving rather late in the day on Friday evening, Jaydon Jarv-Worv and myself set about to find Oulee-Garn Jarv-Worv. It was a reasonably pleasant evening, apart from the vaguely unpleasant duty of informing the Wolf Faction Command that I was indeed leaving this weekend and going to join the Jackals' Faction. But in the end it went rather well, and I was wished well and good health by most of the people I spoke to.
The most important thing that I found out was that the Raggers really had left the Wolves and were currently guest camping with the Unicorns and Dragons, whilst they looked for a new taker for their mercenary contract.
Saturday
Once I was awake I managed to make it to the opening ceremonies. Which was all very entertaining, except when Joshua took the stage on behalf of the Alchemists' Guild and used his time verbally abuse the Wolf Faction command about letting unliving take over the head fellowship of the Lunas Temple and Library in Norsca, before dropping to the floor. He was dead before his head the stage I was made to understand later.
When I had it confirmed that Joshua was dead (he was taken off the stage very quickly and taken to the Alchemists' Guild), I hurried up to the Wolf Faction command tent so that I might inform Klaus, who was the only command member there. He just seemed angry at Joshua as he explained to me that the Wolves had lost a good few men whilst trying to hold back the unliving as they got the survivors out of the temple after it had been invaded.
Went and watched Jayden play for the Jackals in the Jugger tournament, unfortunately the first match was against the Wolves who funnily enough won, but I had a hard time of it, as I had been asked by both command structures to cheer for them - so I had to cheer for both teams. Although I managed to get Erica from the Uvaevelv to help me out. I lost interest in the Jugger tournament after that.
Thoughout the day and night most of the factional camps were attacked by fire elementals, and later in the evening the Jackals were also attacked by a group of unliving, apparantly chanting something about Bloodmoon. I spent the evening in the Dragons' camp looking after the Libris's Commander, Elaine, until deep into the night. I even helped the gate guard out for a while to help identify the Raggers as they came back to camp.
Sunday
Having finally heard about the Bloodmoon attack, I was given the responsibility by Oulee to find out as much as possible about them, which was relatively easy as they are an old enemy of the Wolves, in particular of the Fellowship of Lunas. They are made up of unliving, werewolves, and abominations (werewolves seemingly crossed with unliving from what I am to understand).
Also, I heard more information on the fire elementals, apparantly the Masks of Fire and Evil are currently on the Plane of Fire, which is causing it to expand and it's throwing out fire elementals in order to gather more magic so it may expand even more. Also, whilst it is getting bigger, it's slowly crushing the other Planes of Existance and forcing other elementals out, which are acting confused and attacking anyone who gets near them.
Other than spending my time running around, gathering information and passing it on, I really did very little all day, and decided to treat myself to an early night's sleep and transported out with Jaydon to sleep somewhere a bit warmer, in Greacia.
Monday
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I seemed to have missed most of the day, including the final Jugger match, although not the fight that happened afterwards - the Unicorns and Lions (and their allies) charging through the Wolves and into the Vipers and Jackals. I am ashamed to say that I fell and twisted my ankle trying to run away and hide by the merchants' stalls instead of fighting, although I did see some interesting sights from where I sat.
Also, on my way back to the Guilds I met two militia men carrying the body of Annawyn Moonway, the Chancellor of the Wolves Faction. It appeared that she had been assassinated whilst walking through the market place. Her companion at the time, Asbo the beastkin, is still missing, presumed dead as well. After informing the Wolf command of her death I escorted them to the Militia Guild and back to their camp as they brought her body back after it had been dedicated. I shall miss Annawyn, she was a lovely person with a bright, bubbly personality. She was nice and treated me with respect.
All in all the day was much like the weekend - wet, windy, tiring without very much seeming to have happened. Next time I'll keep a more detailed diary methinks.
