A Song for House Sar'Donnath

[Em] We are as old as distant [C] time,
A wise and noble royal [Am] line
The peaceful guardians of [B7] lore
[Em] Eleven hundred winters [C] ago,
the Younger Races sought to [Am] throw
Our people down in a [B7] bloody war

CHORUS:

[D] Fifty years of wandering, maybe [Am] more
Ever searching for the [Em] shore
for a place to call our [D] own again
[D] Flames illuminating the [Am]night,
our homes destroyed, murder and [Em] spite
Of which the likes will not be [D] known again

Just when all hope seemed to be dead
We saw land approaching up ahead
Varalla rising from the East
Our people found a home at last
And centuries came and passed
A blissful time of strength and peace

But as our weary legends have told
A subtle sickness took hold
A jealousy time could not tame
The Elves were filled with bitterness and hate
That our wisest council could not placate
Agressive just like humans they became

Many years of searching for the cause
Of petty bickering and wars
Discover why peace had escaped from us
Our elders sensed an evil on the isle
An ancient voice which could beguile
The Va-rallan elves to turn on us

Our cities lay atop a tomb
A dark and mysterious room
The final resting place of Lordhel
For aeons he had lain entombed in stone
A prisoner on his own throne
In a hall of statues he dwelled

His voice whispered underground
That the Fey princes should stay bound
Their evil had to be contained
But the Varallans were enthralled
With the sweet words with which they called
And freed the cursed Princes once again

Mourn anew the casualties of war
Our bodies broken on the floor
OUr leaders executed callously
Once again we took unto the seas
Blown upon the cruel breeze
Our hearts filled with mortal tragedy

The Varallan uprising was fast
Fuelled by Fey Princes, freed at last
They took away our immortality
With shattered hearts again, we fled
on black oceans, our boats stained blood red
Hunted down across the open seas

But eventually we came
To find a home again to claim
Upon the shores of Norsca we arrived
More than a shadow of ourselves
A still proud race of noble Elves
We know we once again will thrive

A thousand years of anguish, maybe more
Til we landed on these shores
Another place we can call home again
Songs echoing into the night
The strength to stand again and fight
By Lordhel's Will we shall be whole again
