Didn't We Have a Lovely Time (the Gorsedd Song)
Didn't we have a lovely time
At the Bards Guild annual Gorsedd
A weekend away, with music all day
And lots of mead around you know
Well, into the room came one of the Sh'room
So we hid the pens and paper
We sang him a few of our favourite songs
And the mead went round
Then came a shout, "get yer instruments out"
So we had a big jam session
Saxophone, drum, Meg's accordion
And Cerridwen played the harp you know
Later that night we all got a fright
When a Drow got his trombone out
Acting like loons we all played a few tunes
While the mead went round
The following day was stranger I'd say
As we went to hunt for treasure
Pirates undead, codes to be read
And a treaty with the Sh'room you know
Then came the call, "go back to the hall
It's time for competitions"
Poetry, tales and some musical scales
And the mead went round
Next thing we know, well into the show
Three Goblins caused a nuisance
They had a song, so they came along
They wanted to perform you know
Now paper we'd used, the Sh'room felt abused
So they called us all oath breakers
They declared war 'cause they felt very sore
So the mead went round
The following morn poor old Quite looked folorn
For he'd found that something was missing
Invisible Sh'room had crept to his room
And shaved his eyebrow off you know
Then all doom and gloom, we had word that the Sh'room
Were in the ritual circle
Calling the winds to do terrible things
So the mead went round
The wind took our words, few voices were heard
For the Sh'room had caused us muted
And so, as we're Bards, we all played charades
Which was a lot of fun you know
Varg said "now wait, let's evacuate
Back to our home in Selby"
A ritual was held and Gearsprocket excelled
And we all went home.
