Gods Will
These are the lyrics to a really old song from long before the Lions came to Avalon, when the four clans had only just united as one. Unfortunately I don’t know the tune – only the words as my father taught them to us.

I tell the tale of a dark winter night
When Chaos surrounded and quenched the light;
When children cried for the hope we had lost,
It seemed our last lives would be the last cost.
Mere remnants remained of what we once were
Diminished by truth that war is not fair.
Where could we turn? What was there to do?
Each of us too few to start anew.
But Avalon told us the Clans could live still
If we met together that night at Gods Will.

Kelerat came with a banner of white -
What good tradition with no future in sight?
Kamyr they came with a flag of red -
No use for courage when everyone's dead.
With bands of green Clan Hyskas came -
No place for strength when it's all up in flames.
Yel made their way with a standard of brown -
Too late for respect when you fall to the ground.
But Avalon told us the Clans could live still
If we met together that night at Gods Will.

The fair witch Yel said there could be a way
To keep us alive if our tempers don't stray;
Though it would test each value we hold -
Our loyalty, pride, our honour of old.
The warrior Hyskas, he didn't know
If they could break bread with those who were foes;
To bury the past and forgive what has gone
Was weakness to those who fought for so long.
But Avalon told us the Clans could live still
If we tried together that night at Gods Will.

The shield maiden Kelerat, wary she was
That her way be lost for the sake of this cause;
For honour like hers she struggled to see
In those that remained of the other clans three.
The son of Kamyr did raise his voice
To say, 'Yes we fear, but we have this one choice: To make our stand and turn the tide,
To make all our demons run and hide'.
And Avalon told us the Clans would live still
So we tried together that night at Gods Will.

Yet tempers still flared and bitterness raged
With all of our differences brought down the age.
When one great strength is another's dishonour
And loyalty shamed for the freedom of nature.
The night turned to grey with a threatening dawn
And we seemed no closer to where we belonged.
We cursed one another for time we had wasted
And there they were waiting, the forces of Chaos.
But Avalon told us the Clans could live still
If we fought together that night at Gods Will.

They came at us fast into Kelerat shields
And soon met the Hyskas who would not yield.
The swords of Kamyr tore them into the ground
From which Yel picked us up on that sacred mound.
The enemy defeated like never before
Because without thinking we made One from Four.
Suddenly clear there were things we could learn
If we stood together to hold back the burn.
And Avalon showed us the Clans could live still
When we fought together that night at Gods Will.

It's not always easy on dark winter nights
To put difference aside and do what is right.
It often got harder through following days
As we sought for ties in all of our ways.
But we made it work as Avalon told us
The Hordes they did flee when they would behold us.
The Red and the Green, the Brown and the White -
All now one Brethren and ready to fight.
As Avalon told us, the Clan now lives still
Since we stood together that night at Gods Will.
