The Working Girl's Tale
When choosing a profession, there seemed so little choice
Thought maybe I could be a bard...I didn't have the voice
I tried my hand at farming but I found it such a bore
That I ran back to the city, wound up working as a whore
So come you jolly sailors, come lords and merchants all
You'll never lack excitement here within our madam's hall
Now city life gets lonely when all your friends have left
Your family's all gone away and left you quite bereft
But step up to that building, and once inside the door
You'll never more be lonely when you're working as a whore
So come you jolly sailors, come lords and merchants all
You'll never want for company within our madam's hall
But then a conversation did come and change my life
It told me of another path, and not as someone's wife
I bought myself some armour, and a sword both strong and sure
Then set out to be a soldier, 'stead of working as a whore
So come you jolly sailors, come lords and merchants all
You'll never find this lady though within that madam's hall
