Waiting for Her
Chorus
I’ve stepped on the battlefield many times before,
And I’ve always come away from the fight,
But now as I lie here, my life ebbing slowly,
Tell me, will the healers find me this time.
My wife and my daughter are waiting on the farmstead,
They sleep with the knowledge that I fight to keep them free.
They cried when we parted, when I left with the army.
And we all looked to the day when united we would be.
Chorus
The recruiters came calling, with talk of soldiers glory,
Of battles to be won in the name of Truth and Right.
They paid us in coins in exchange for oaths of service,
But never did I dream that they’d leave me here to die.
Chorus
In my mind I can see them, my wife and my daughter.
The times spent together and the times that will not be.
Though my comrades surround me, my death will be lonely.
The dark Raven Goddess is coming for me.
